Our dresses, skirts, kerchiefs, neckties, and jewelry are made by us either in the back of our Brooklyn storefront or within walking distance of it. We are a crew of five soulful craftspeople: a pattern maker, a grader, a cutter, and three seamstresses. Check out our slideshows to see how we make our clothing, how we wear our clothing, and what inspires us! We gift-wrap, and ship anywhere in the continental U.S.

Ruby Moriarty the Store

Design: the Ruby Moriarty collections are designed by Jessica Dineen.

Fabric: we choose vintage or rare fabric. Our sources range from Manahattan to rural Maine to Bangkok. All of our dresses and skirts are limited-edition, and many are made in fewer than one piece per size in each fabric. Except for our pure silk dresses, all of our clothing can be gently machine-washed in cold water, line-dried, and cool-ironed if necessary. One-hundred-percent cotton clothing will shrink slightly.

Production: Our clothes are designed and made within walking distance of our Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn storefront. See our slideshow!

Ruby Moriarty the cat

Ruby Moriarty is a nineteen-year-old tabby cat who hangs out on the sidewalk whenever the weather’s good. She was named after a nineteenth-century street musician in Dublin, Ireland, whose father was a concert pianist and whose little dog hung out in the shadow (or out of the way of a soft rain) under her stand-up base. The clothes were named after the cat.
